A Community in Slow Motion
Right now, our Town is lost. We are in need of vision, fresh voices and an inspiring story.
Plans for Central Park have stalled out. A looming water crisis is on the horizon. A board that can’t even make decisions right now because of vacancies and absences.
I dream of a reinvigorated Firestone that is optimized for human flourishing. Easier access to nature, more places to eat and shop local, safer and smoother roads. Reliable, clean water and fiber internet for all residents. How about an organic grocery store or more co-working spaces and coffee shops?
Let’s make Firestone the best place to raise a family in the Front Range and in doing so create a town that brings about thriving and flourishing for all residents.
Let’s Dream Better
You’re not crazy to not want to drive to Longmont for almost everything.
We’re good on the gas stations, tire shops and fast food. How ‘bout an organic grocery store, local coffee shop or co-working space?
We’re so much more than an exit on the Interstate. Our central location has a lot of potential (or at least that’s what the realtor told you). We have better views of the Rockies than Longmont anyway! Here’s some ideas of what we could create together.
Platform Cheat Sheet
I support
• A Park in Central Park
• Securing Water Long Term
• Protecting Children
• Small Businesses
• Smart and Responsible Growth Optimized for Human Flourishing
• A Community Garden and Farmer’s Market
I oppose
• Flock Cameras or any other ALPR surveillance technology
• Large Scale AI Data Centers
• Commercial Development that Blocks Mountain Views
• Marijuana Dispensaries in the Town
• Wasteful Spending and Poor Stewardship of Resources
• Raising Taxes
A Firestone that is Beautiful, Vibrant and Healthy
• Start building a park in Central Park
• Prioritize amenities for children and families to enjoy next to the library like a playground, a splash pad, pickleball courts, hiking and biking trails, water bottle refill stations, shaded picnic tables and an outdoor amphitheater for live music and movies in the park
• I would like to see a community garden in this space
• Full size basketball, sand volleyball, pickleball, and tennis courts
• I would support other park like features like soccer and baseball fields, batting cages, an ice rink and sledding hill
• I would not allow commercial development along Colorado Blvd to block the amazing mountain views
• Prioritize getting an organic grocery store or starting a farmer's market for easy access to fresh, local produce
• Make access easier into St. Vrain State Park
• Beautify Firestone and update signage, improve landscaping/control weeds, and work to repair and maintain smooth roads
• I would oppose any effort to bring marijuana dispensaries inside Town limits
Fiscal Responsibility and Stewardship
• Eliminate wasteful spending and audit the budget for waste, fraud or abuse
• Have developers and commercial growth be responsible for infrastructure buildout, not taxpayers
• Reduce water rates
• I would like to improve communication between the Town and residents through a revamped newsletter and easy to digest and accessible after meeting summaries
• I would discourage large scale AI data center projects that would negatively affect our water and energy resources
Privacy, Freedom & Safety
• Terminate (pun intended) the contract with Skynet-style Flock cameras and fully remove and ban current and any future ALPR camera surveillance within the Town. Hasta la vista.
• Protect children in person and online against predators
• Work with Firestone PD and CDOT to finally build a proper barrier between I-25 and Frontage Road 9 1/2 between Hwy 119 and Hwy 66
Long Term Planning
• Secure clean and reliable water long term
• Become a home rule city so we don’t have to follow orders from the State
• Get our own zip code. We don’t live in Longmont
• Utilize the Firestone-Longmont Park and Ride to have a Direct to DIA airport shuttle via E470
• Appoint a qualified Town Manager to set us up well for generations to come
Love Thy Neighbor
• Honor veterans and take care of our elderly, widowed and vulnerable neighbors through partnerships with local churches, non-profits and other organizations already doing great work in Carbon Valley
• Support micro economy and local entrepreneurs providing food delivery, home and yard maintenance, elderly care, and rideshare services
The Small and Local Business Capital of the Front Range
• Cut red tape and make Firestone the best place to live and work so that solopreneurs, small business owners, makers, artisans, work from home and household businesses can thrive
• Multiple, reliable fiber internet choices and access for every resident
• Eliminate annual business license fees or anything that is a burden to small local businesses especially to those that are working out of their home

85% of us are homeowners. Because of low interest rates during the pandemic, a lot of us are not moving anytime soon. So why not invest in our community and build something our kids will be proud of when asked “Where are you from?”
Kevin who?
I’m just a relatable husband and dad who wants to see the Central Park built before my daughter graduates high school.
My ideas are simple and common sense. Clean water, safe roads, easy access to the State Park. And more local places to eat and shop so I don’t have to drive to Longmont for almost everything.
I’d honestly prefer not to get involved in this. But after living in Firestone for 5 years and seeing such slow progress, I feel called to step up and take responsibility for the place I call home.
I want maximum thriving and flourishing for all of my neighbors. Long term access to reliable, clean water both for drinking and for our lakes. Multiple fiber internet options for every resident. Maximum individual freedom and better communication between the Town and residents.
And most importantly, a heart of compassion and care where we take care of the elderly, widowed, poor and vulnerable among us, partnering with local churches, non-profits and other private organizations to do so.
A resident of Firestone since 2021, and a Coloradan since 2016, I live with my wife and daughter in the Barefoot Lakes neighborhood, I am a small business owner, and an active leader at Redeemer Longmont Presbyterian Church.
Inspired by my political hero Ben Sasse to serve as locally as possible, I’m just a humble guy trying to love my neighbors well.
May cure insomnia
Watch my interview for the Trustee vacancy in June.
No candidate was selected because there has not been a quorum.
*A “quorum” means the minimum number of members who must be present to hold a valid meeting and make decisions. There are only 3 trustees out of 6 that consistently attend. 4 are needed to make any decisions. Don’t worry, I didn’t know what that meant either and yes that means the government is basically shutdown.
Ask me anything
How can we shape Firestone to be the best hometown in the Front Range?
